Wounding Rates
For each duck bagged by a duck shooter, we estimate that another is wounded. This is a conservative lower bound. As for individual shooters, those who are pretty good will wound about 5 for every 10 they bag, while many shooters will wound more than 10 for every 10 they bag.
Duck shooting then is a little like an abattoir where half the animals which go in the front door escape wounded.
There is a great deal of evidence that duck wounding rates are very high and these web pages point you to some of it. However there is also much that is unknown, and hence any wounding rate figure you come up with is based on incomplete evidence. Hence I've picked a figure which is conservative. The actual rate may be far higher.
