Silent Stalkers
Dying off,
like petals from a daisy.
Disappearing,
like a rabbit in a magician's
hat trick.
Never to be seen,
like a gust of wind through
the trees.
Only wanted
as a trophy on someone's wall.
Tigers were once wild and free
but these days are diminished
like their tormentor's hearts.

The Hunted
His body ripples across the grass
As sleek and silent as a snake
He sees his prey grazing and quickly makes his pass
Still his stomach rumbles and he presses onward
A sudden noise alerts him
But he is not fast enough
He falls heavily to the ground, legs like jelly
His heart pounds faster as he sees his predator
Now the warm blood trickles slowly over his belly
He takes his last look at the world as his emerald eyes roll skyward
And once again a rare wolf passes from our world
Still the hunter's pleasure grows and he presses onward
