Dissection

Cutting up dead animals is an outdated way of studying biology. There are several studies which show that students learn as much or more by using other, more humane methods.

Dissection isn't necessary even for students who go on to study medicine or veterinary science.

There are more and more high quality alternatives to using animals in teaching. The NORINA database listed 3700 alternatives to animals in 1997, and it keeps growing. You can search NORINA on the internet.

Information on dissection is divided into 2 parts:

Dissection - the Arguments shows why dissection is wrong and how students learn just as much by using more humane methods.

Dissection - the Alternatives describes a range of alternatives to achieve different educational objectives.
